Active learning is a student centered approach in which the responsibility for learning is placed upon the student, often working in collaboration with classmates. This kind of approaches is located primary education curriculum, in Turkey. From this point of view, the purpose of this study is to investigate the activities which were prepared by pre-service teachers according to the active learning approaches such as; role playing, think-pair-share, problem solving, questions, peer review, discussion. Qualitative research method was used in the study. Activity samples were used as a document. The participants of the study are 28 pre-service teachers who took “Active Learning” course at Hakkari University, Turkey in 2015-2016 academic year. In application process, pre-service teachers were informed about active learning strategies during three month, two hours per week. Each week two different strategies were discussed and pre-service teachers were asked to prepare activity sample according to one of this strategies. The document analysis form was prepared by researcher in order to analyze qualitative data obtained from related documents. The results of the research were given in tables and the most frequently occurred levels are emphasized in the discussion of the findings. In addition, themes found are given together with examples. © 2016 The Authors. Published by European Science publishing Ltd.
